The Terrifying Nature of the Blank Page

So, in an attempt to be a little more active on the blog here, I set myself a goal to post something at least 3 times a week… arbitrarily on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  It being Friday, here I sit in front of the ‘white page of doom’ wondering what in the name of the gods I’m going to write about.

What’s been going on since Wednesday?

My spouse and I have been going great guns with Habitica, which I mentioned in the previous post.  It’s really keeping us on track for getting things done.  You should have a look if you wonder what it’s all about.  For me personally, someone who struggles with anxiety, depression and a serious lack of self-love, (I have a very overzealous internal critic who puts me down at every possible opportunity), it has been a godsend and I can’t thank my spouse enough for finding it for us.  I’m addicted, (in a good way)!

I have finished, and posted to AO3 the Star Trek: Discovery fiction – well the first chapter anyway – that I was talking about in my previous post.  It is, for the moment, called Butterfly and Phoenix and you can find it by clicking on the Title.  It is a huge bubbling pot of very wishful thinking, and trying to make sense of a lot of things all at once… mixing up canon, non-canon, new (Discovery) canon, some of which I know folks object to, but I wanted to see, ‘what if’ I could embrace it and make it work?

I’m about to head over to The Writer’s Block.  It’s February, and I need to get the new prompt posted.  If you haven’t joined us there yet, please consider this your invitation. It’s a lot of fun and the more of us sharing our work there, the better.  You can tackle any of the prompts already posted, but I hope to have the February prompt up before the end of the day.

Draft horse pull is tonight.  I’m looking forward to going to watch that… and evening out with horses and associated fun… I’ll maybe take pictures to post another time.

Speaking of which, what kind of things would you like to see posted here. Half of the reason I don’t post often is that I’m unsure of what to write about and then get lost in the Terror of the Blank Page.  I need to find some blogging prompts, ideas… and not just rely on things that are happening to give me idea.  Gods know the world is a dark and dangerous place, and I wouldn’t want to get stuck in that.  You can comment below or Email if there’s anything you want to know, how’s that.  An invitation to AMA!

Oh my goodness, what have I done?
